Recommended Restaurants

My career in aviation gave me a lot of opportunity to travel on an expense account; this has allowed me to develop an expensive palate!  But Monroe County, Ohio, is not home to fine restaurants (in my opinion; you may differ), nor are there any such restaurants close by.  To go out for dinner takes some effort; the following recommendations are from my experiences.

  Baristas Cafe and Pub

326 Main Street,New Martinsville, West Virginia

Visit their website at: http://www.baristascafe-pub.com

Baristas does not consider themselves a restaurant, rather, they have a cafe upstairs and a pub in the cellar.  The cafe serves excellent coffee and original recipes of soups and sandwiches, a great hamburger, and outstanding pizza, food which can also be taken in the pub.   The hosts and patrons, alike, are very casual and very friendly; the congenial atmosphere of this place simply cannot be beat.  The pub is my favorite hangout of all time.  They have been written up very favorably in the New York Times and voted Best Pub in West Virginia.

Good example of a place that caters to lovers of wine and
good food.  A very comfortable place to dine, I've always had good service and excellent food.

  Austyn's Restaurant

                                             Marietta, Ohio

I love going to this place and take advantage of it every time I'm in Marietta for shopping.  Known as a Thai food place, I think this a misnomer, as they have a good variety and a good wine list.  Always very good service in  a casual atmosphere.
